up to date, by the way…

Wednesday, December 24th, 2008

You know, I was thinking…we’ve sorta’ kept everyone in the dark about the changes that are going on. It’s hard to keep up with everything. A person doesn’t really realize how busy indie artists are. It starts with the music, obviously. I write a song (or Sanja does) we bring to rehearsal, we play it, change it, vote on it, keep it, toss it..whatever. But it really doesn’t stop there. Not only do we work on the music, schedule the practices, book shows, deal with the promotional people, design artwork, run a website, deal with iTunes, Rhapsody, Napster, etc. Recordings, demo’s, Radio, Webcasts and magazines…they ALL want some time. ALL that, damn near every day, PLUS now we get a new drummer on board. You know what that means, right? Re-Design EVERYTHING! Up to and including the music itself. *sigh*. I’m not complaining..really, I’m not. To be perfectly honest, I’m actually pretty damn excited about it. It’s like, we get a second chance, we get to breath a little bit. Put on a different hat and change it up, all under control and perfectly planned. See what I mean? Here’s what’s going on…I can’t help it…I have to leak a little of it out there. Besides, you won’t tell, right? We’ve got the new drummer (Eric, okay..his name is Eric), we’ve got a BRAND NEW website going to take off at the end of the year. This thing will have it all. TONS of goodies and a MILLION ways to get you involved in the band. Not just listening to the tunes and telling your cat how much you like “For You”. I mean, getting INVOLVED! You’ll be wrapped up in just about everything that we do AND it’ll get you all sorts of promotions and special goodies. We’ve got a fully functional newsletter (really, almost an e-zine) coming out every month, we’ve got a full blown TOUR in the works (hear that people…we’re coming to get you!), the limited edition CD’s are almost gone and the last couple of hundred or so are going to contain an AWESOME prize. Some really great shows and promo’s are coming up, including the Video blog that we’ve been talking about. Hang with us, people, it’s about to go crazy. In the immortal words of whoever said it….’stand back…I don’t know how big this thing is going to get’
*breath out*

okay..so it’s just between us, right? ;)

Happy Holidays?

Wednesday, December 24th, 2008

I question it, really. Is this going to be a happy holiday season? not for some to be sure. I think we’ll manage okay. The band is up and running again. (for those of you who don’t know, Dan’s out…new guy is in. More details on that to come shortly). I’m think that people are going to have a pretty good season, maybe a little less commercial this year. Maybe a little more cozy, this year. Stay home, hang on the couch or around the table, fix a delicious dinner and enjoy the evening. Anything wrong with that? naah.

So..anyway. Keep your eye on the site, the myspace, be sure to check out the new store with all the goodies and I’ll talk to you again soon.

Friday Night Soul

Saturday, December 13th, 2008

Wow, I have a ton of stuff to post up here. For those of you that don’t know, I was on vacation there for a while up north is Gloriously frigid and snowy Indiana. I’ve got crap-pile of stuff to post on here regarding that (alas, no pictures…they’re too incriminating). I will say, however, that I witnessed a VERY drunk person SLAM their head on a glass window last night and scatter everything in the vicinity. One would think that either A. the glass would break and the person would tumble to the streets below or B. They would get up, shake it off and return to their normal way of life. Neither of these things happened. *LOL* It was [dance, dance] *BAM!!* then a slow, dazed Ooozing down the wall to the floor. And their she sat for at least 5 minutes, no exaggeration. It was Hilarious! Her friends tried to help her up, but she was mere dead weight to the world. VERY funny. Oh, and by the way, go check out our myspace…there’s a very important blog being posted there as well. Something amazing, horrifying and terrific all in one little blurry blast!! www.myspace.com/anyonesguessmusic

What’s going on?

Saturday, November 29th, 2008

Thanksgiving…a time when one can sit around the table(s), gourge themselves on food and talk to people that you may or may not know. I had an interesting one this year. As some of you know, I’m familyless down here so every year we usually will find someone else’s family to mooch off of for the day. It normally works out and this year is no different. This year we went over to a friends house and their entire extended family seemed to show up. Everyone was nice, met some new people and had some great food. It was after the dinner when things got interesting. Apparantly, it is tradition in this group that everyone must wear a funny hat and have their picture taken. Which I did with great joy. I, myself, have no problems wearing funny hats in awkward places, not to mention seeing “grandma”, grandpa and aunt Jane wearing these amazing Turkey-Hats. That, my friends, is a good time. Now it’s time to go for a walk (you notice that I walk alot around families, huh?). We walk out through the fields, woods and to the lake where we proceed to watch some people fish and experience a little “Manure-Golf”. One of the kids decided to take a baseball bat and whack piles of manure. Now isn’t that exciting? I was not one of the fortunate receipients of the manure barrage. I sat on the edge of the dock and watched grandmas fish race. (The scored ended, 2-0, by the way.) Is the story over? NO! Not by a long “shot”. Now, it’s time for the gun chapter of this tale. Any one of you who know me by any measure know that I’m not a huge fan of guns. I’m not going to be hypocritical and say that I don’t agree with them or that I’ve never owned one, I just think that a lot of the guns that are for sale out there are totally unnecessary. Anyway, it’s time do some skeet-shooting. Something that I’ve never done, but, according to my score (4 out of 5) I’m pretty good. That’s what the folks say, anyway. So, to some it up…another delightfully entertaining Thanksgiving. Anything special happen to you?

Great time last night!

Sunday, November 23rd, 2008

Alright, so any of you that came out to the Haven last night for our Rock for Blood event, did we or did we not have a blast! Not only were there some great bands playing, but we collected 38 units of blood! That’s the potential to save 114 people!! I don’t know about you, but I would think that going out, having some fun, listening to some music and saving someones life would make for a pretty good Saturday night, don’t you think? Here’s some great quotes from the evening:

“…and the winner of the $30 in music downloads is….TwatRot!”

“…I got stuck three times, passed out and almost fell down the stairs…give me the damn thing!”

and of course, Manny’s famous joke:

An elephant and camel are talking and the elephant says to the Camel, “Why do you have your tits on your back?”
To which the Camel replies, “At least I don’t have my dick on my face!”

Har, har…I know. That’s what you get when you come to an AG show, right? Non-stop good times.

Now…what do you think we’re going to be up to next? Guess you’ll just have to wait and see.

anything, anytime

Thursday, November 20th, 2008

I’m really not sure what that title is all about. It’s just something to get me going, I guess. So we had our last rehearsal last night before the Rock for Blood event. I have to say, I’m pretty damn excited about this thing. It’ll be my first event that I’ve really organized from the ground up. Of course, I’ve had help, but still…you know what I mean. Our business meeting last night (for those of you who don’t know, Sanja and I have a business meeting at Denny’s every Wednesday to discuss marketing, PR, set goals and give a progress report on what we’re doing) And I think we’ve come up with some really great stuff that’s going to pop up here in the next couple of months. I’m excited about what’s going to happen for the band in the next year. Of course, it’s a little hard to be very excited about stuff when it’s so friggin’ cold. Although, I shouldn’t say anything. I know people who live in a colder area than what I’ve got down here. But whatever. Does anyone know any good jokes? I’m horrible at remembering jokes (because I have a HORRIBLE memory), but I do enjoy a good one every now and then. If you’ve got a good one, post it on here. I’d love to read it.
Another thing that came up at practice last night was Sanja’s claim that they have re-discovered a Mogwai like creature somewhere. Now, after her discripition, I was sure that she was just saying that they’ve found a new lemur or something. In fact, I insisted that she had found a new lemur, despite the fact that she “claims” to “never” have “seen” a “lemur”. Whatever Sanja. But of course, like always, I pull up Yahoo this morning and what’s on the front page? An article on the amazing pygmy tarsier, which is one of the cutest damn things I think I’ve ever seen. You have to check it out, read the story here: Damn that thing is cool. I’m sure that you would like to have one for your un-birthday. Be careful…apparantly they bite and do not like aerobics. Oh, and don’t get them wet or feed them after midnight.

Also, if you haven’t heard yet (like, if you’ve been living in a cave or been in outer-space) we’re hosting the Rock for Blood event on Nov.22nd @ the Haven. AND we’ve garnered ourselves a couple of nice little write-ups in Connections Magazine and Out-Impact e-zine. Check ‘em out!

A Vote…

Tuesday, November 4th, 2008

So, what do you think about the election so far? It seems that there is a pretty good turnout at the voting booths. I know when I went there was a small mob of ol’ ladies there doing some voting business.

Come on new president!

News and something funny…and something horrible!

Saturday, November 1st, 2008

Okay, I know, I know…it’s been a while since I wrote anything, but hey, I’ve been busy! I promise! I’ve got TONS of work done on the Rock for Blood event. We’re pretty much in the homestretch. The bands are picked, the tickets are done (I’ll let you know where you can get them soon enough, so just settle down) and the online ads are up and about. Now we just have a few little things here and there to work out and we’ll be ready! Aside from that, let me tell you what is absolutely hilarious! It happened today at work and I think you all will appreciate the humor.
So, it’s “really busy” at the shop today. (note my sarcasm, please) Dan has decided to bring his pellet gun to work to pass the time. I think it looks like fun, so we go out behind the shop and start shooting at a water bottle. Apparantly, this thing is not all that powerful, so it’s not really going through the bottle when we hit it. It’s my shot and I’m aiming, Dan’s telling me some story about this target thing that he had as a kid and *POP!* the pellet bounces off the bottle and tags Dan right in the side of the face! Of course I nearly passed out from laughter immediately! It was like the scene from “A Christmas Story”. I never thought it would happen in real life. So, needless to say, we put the pellet gun away.
Now the horrible thing. It’s just a little review of this place in Eustis. We’ve been working a new tune and Dan and I got together the other day to work on the arrangement. After we were finished, we thought it would be good to go and grab a beer or something somewhere. We stopped at this place in Eustis call “The Crazy Gator”. DO NOT GO THERE! It was horrible. It was like an episode of the twilight zone, with the empty bar, the same people that are trapped in that weird extra dimension. The waitress couldn’t seem to figure out what we wanted when we told her, the beer was watered down, the chips were stale and there was no atmosphere. No music, not TV sound, nothing. Well, except the rednecks talking and the little mexican baby screaming from the corner. The highlight of the experience came from some huge fat girl nearling busting her ass trying to get off hte bar-stool and nearling pushing Dan out the window. Of course, THAT was funny. The best part was she didn’t really seem to notice us sitting there nor did her Boyfriend even look up when she did it. I laughed hard on the inside.

I’m off for now. I’ll let you know where you can pick up the Rock for Blood tickets.

Fun weekend!

Wednesday, October 15th, 2008

Not only the past weekend, which by the way, was a blast. We ended up going down to Halloween Horror Nights. Too much fun..the only complaints were the long lines (nothing we can do about that) and the early closing hours. But, we managed to get into the main Haunted House and a couple of others, had a tasty drink (the Scaaary Mary) and got a nice little light up cup. Also, tons of spookieness around the park. What’s that you say? You think I was scared? Hmmm? Screamed like a little girl? You bet your ass!! I’m sure they’ll be some pictures floating around somewhere…you’ll see what I mean.

This coming weekend is Biketoberfest. If you’re in to bikes and beer and chicks, you should come out and have a little fun with us on Saturday. We’re down at Rif-Raf’s (formerly Dizzy’s). They’re having music all day starting at 1pm. We go on around 10pm.

A Scorpion! I had a scorpion strutting across my front room last night. I knew that they were supposed to be around, but I had never seen one in person. Sure enough, here he comes, hauling ass across the floor. Stops right in the middle, looks at me, and then keeps on going. I couldn’t believe it. I caught him, told him to stay the hell out of the house and then put him out on the porch. Cool little critter, but not so nice to have around the inside of the house. Anyone else run into one of these?

Out for now..see some of you at the show this weekend,
